Coolendel

My first visit to Coolendel was almost 40 year's ago now and after many visits I had pushed this little piece of paradise to the side to travel overseas. With the purchase of our new campervan we started to think of a quick weekend away, Coolendel soon came to my mind.

Coolendel is located about 30 km's west of Nowra and is surronded by Morton State Conservation Area, the road into Coolendel is bitumen then dirt as you get closer to your destination.

The journey took us about 2 hours but we did make a few stops to checkout the echidna wondering along the roadside, views over the Shoalhaven River and a few old mines and mine shafts which have been fenced off for personal safety.

Once at Coolendel we paid our fee's and went for a drive around the 50 odd hectare property with almost 3km of river frontage, there are many places to call home whether it be a river view or the large paddock at the back of the property or one of the small hidden spots, there is somewhere for everyone . There are two amenities blocks with hot showers and flushing toilets, a lanudry, gas BBQ area and a large shelter shed.

Coolendel is a perfect place for families, couples and singles. It's a great place to relax and get back to nature with lots of wildlife during the day and even better at night spotting wombats and kangaroos by torch light. The river is great for swimming, fishing, kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. Riding your bike around or take one of the trails on a bush walk. Coolendel has something for everyone it's a stunning piece of Australia and well worth a visit.

Coolendel can become very busy on school holidays, I find it better to go autumn or spring or during the week for a quieter time.
